What is your name?
Will Tanner

What is your position with the Y?
Child and Youth Program Leader at the H20

What Y centre/program do you work with?
I work weekend Childminding and our Boys in Action program at the H20 Adventure and Fitness Centre.

If you could spend one whole day with anyone in the world who is currently alive, who would you select?
If I could spend a whole day with anyone who is currently alive, I would have to pick Elon Musk. I am very curious as to what goes on in his average day!

Please explain one fond memory you have of the Y.
At the end of summer 2019, us Program Leaders let some of the kids in our summer camp throw pies in our faces. It was a highlight of the summer for both the kids and Leaders alike, and is a memory I will certainly have for a long time!

What are you doing to stay connected while at home?
Staying active! I love to mountain bike and hike, so I’ve spent a lot of time enjoying those activities with a small group of people.

Are you staying connected with your Y family during this time, and if so, how?
I’m lucky enough to work with some of my best friends, so I definitely stayed connected to the Y over quarantine. Our staff team also did weekly zoom meetings for a while to catch up which was really nice!

What is your favourite activity while social distancing in the Okanagan?
Mountain biking for sure! There are so many incredible trails all across the Okanagan.

What are 3 things on your bucket list?
Live in a large city for at least a year, visit Greece, and do a lengthy backpacking trip!

What does community mean to you?
Community is extremely important to me, and the Y has been a crucial component to having that in my life. It means having a supportive and outgoing group of people around myself. I have also met some of my best friends while working at the Y, and always enjoy meeting new people!

What is your favorite part of your job?
Coming into work and seeing enthusiasm. It really brightens my day.
